in Economic Outlook Survey |

| |
Dear Financial Leader,
I am excited to report good news about where CPA executives see the economy headed in the coming year. Results of the first quarter 2011 AICPA/UNC Kenan-Flagler Business and Industry Economic Outlook Survey indicate a substantial bounce in optimism for the first time in nearly three years and a small but positive shift in hiring sentiment. Within their own organizations, senior level financial executives see continued improvements in revenues, profits and spending.
KEY SURVEY RESULTS
- Optimism about US economy is up sharply.
- Organizational optimism and expansion plans have also increased.
- Hiring is showing some glimmers of improvement but expectations for hiring are still very low.
- Over fifty percent of respondents are concerned about inflation in the next six months.
- Respondents want government to reduce the regulatory burden and reduce spending.
- Respondents plan to increase business spending.
