    Hiring Trends 

    SUPPLY & DEMAND

    The 2015 Trends in the Supply of Accounting Graduates and the Demand for Public Accounting Recruits looks at current trends in accounting education and the hiring marketplace.

    Key Findings

    • Enrollments at BA and MA degree levels continue to increase, reaching almost 252,000.
    • Demand for master's graduates has increased by 11% from 2012 to 2014. 
    • In the 2013–14 academic year, enrollment in accounting programs reached an all-time high after a year of rapid growth — a 19% increase for master’s degree enrollments and a 3% increase in bachelor’s degree enrollments.
    • Hiring reached record levels after 7% growth in all new hires. Master’s degree hires saw the largest growth, with an 11% increase since 2012.
    • Ninety-one percent of public accounting firms forecase they will hire the same or more graduates in the following year.

    Bureau of Labor Statistics 

    The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report in 2014 that looks at the job market for accountants and auditors through 2024. They project a growth rate of 11% during this time frame. You can view the full report that contains information on salaries too.
