June is LGBT Pride Month

    Pride Month
    Pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group and build community, as opposed to shame and social stigma.


    Fast Facts – LGBT Pride Month 

    • LGBT buying power grew 100 billion dollars between 2006 and 2012.
    • Despite inclusion efforts, it is legal in 29 states for dismissal of staff due to orientation.
    • DiversityInc requires domestic-partner benefits as a prerequisite to make their Top 50 list, setting a new standard for openness in America.
    • The average household income of same-sex couples outpaces that of heterosexual couples.
