Erich Merkle
Auto Industry Analyst, Ford Motor Company, Dearborn, MI

Mr. Merkle joined Ford Motor in September 2010. Prior to joining Ford, he worked as an industry forecast analyst for over twelve years and has authored numerous articles and has regularly conducted economic and auto industry presentations around the country. He was the keynote speaker at the 2010 and 2011 Auto Team America CEO/CFO Forum. Erich has been regularly quoted in the news media, including the Detroit News/Free Press, The Wall Street Journal, Automotive News, and numerous trade journals. Erich has frequently been interviewed and asked to comment on various industry issues by television and radio news channels, including CNBC, Bloomberg TV/Radio, local TV, NPR, WWJ, and the BBC. Erich graduated from the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program at Wayne State University in 1990. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business (B.B.A.) from Eastern Michigan University in 1989. As a member of the Society of Automotive Analysts, he has twice won (2005 and 2008) the Society’s vehicle producton forecast contest in which SAA Automotive Outlook Conference attendees are judged on the basis of their North American light vehicle production forecast accuracy submitted a year earlier. 
Bob Carter
Bob Carter, Group Vice President & General Manager, Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., Torrance, CA

Mr. Carter is responsible for overseeing all sales, logistics and marketing activities for Toyota, Scion, and the Central Atlantic Toyota distributors. Prior to his current position, Carter served as group vice president and general manager of Lexus, where he was responsible for all aspects of its automotive operations, including sales and marketing, retail development, customer satisfaction and product planning. His responsibilities also included coordinating sales activities, dealer relations, parts and service operations, and the marketing operations of four regional offices around the country. Since joining TMS in 1981 as a warranty processor, Carter has held a number of positions, including general manager of Toyota’s Denver regional sales office, Lexus Eastern area manager, and Lexus national market representation manager. He was also the general manager and part owner of Hyannis Toyota in Hyannis, Massachusetts.
