The Elijah Watt Sells Award is bestowed annually upon candidates who:

  • Have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination

  • Passed all four sections of the Examination on their first attempt

Candidates are eligible for the award the calendar year following the year in which they completed testing. If a candidate meets all criteria for eligibility, they will be contacted by the AICPA and informed of their recipient status.

The AICPA has bestowed the Elijah Watt Sells Award on candidates for outstanding performance on the Uniform CPA Examination since 1923. Sells was one of the country’s first CPAs. He was active in the establishment of the AICPA and played a key role helping to advance professional education in the profession.
