AICPA Reception Honors CPAs in Congress

  American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA, welcomed the members of Congress and expressed appreciation for their efforts on behalf of the profession.  The reception was an opportunity for Melancon, AICPA Chair Tommye Barie, CPA, AICPA Vice Chair Tim Christen, CPA, CGMA, AICPA Immediate Past Chair Bill Balhoff, CPA, CGMA, and AICPA Board Members Terry Grafenstine, CPA, CGMA and Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, CPA, CGMA, and other members of the profession to discuss accounting and tax issues with the legislators and their staff members.

 “The 11 representatives and senators who are CPAs or accountants bring a unique perspective to financial policy debates on Capitol Hill,” AICPA Senior Vice President for Congressional & Political Affairs Mark Peterson explained.  “The reception allowed us to publicly acknowledge their commitment to the profession’s ideals and standards as they navigate the legislative process.”
