AICPA First Stakeholder Group to Meet with New IRS Commissioner

    The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) was the first stakeholder group to meet with Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen, who was sworn in as the 48th Commissioner of the IRS on December 23, 2013.

    The AICPA representatives attending the March meeting with Commissioner Koskinen were Chairman William E. Balhoff, CPA, CGMA, CFF; President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA; Tax Executive Committee Chairman Jeffrey A. Porter, CPA; Vice President of Taxation Edward S. Karl, CPA, CGMA, and Director of Tax Advocacy Melissa M. Labant, CPA/PFS, CGMA.

    The March meeting between the AICPA’s leaders and Commissioner Koskinen continued the AICPA’s custom of an annual meeting between the IRS Commissioner and the AICPA’s most senior leaders, and is in addition to the ongoing daily work of AICPA staff with IRS employees to represent the profession.
