Hem Nerkar is the Vice President of Information Technology at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). His responsibilities include providing strategic and tactical direction for the vision, acquisition and management of AICPA’s technology.
Hem has made significant contributions to helping the Institute achieve its mission and strategy during his six years in various leadership roles within the IT Team. With his direction, the IT software delivery group collaborated with business units throughout the Institute to create, deliver and support applications designed to achieve strategic initiatives, such as recruiting and retaining staff members, increasing operational efficiency, and facilitating business transactions.
Additionally, Hem was instrumental in relocating the IT function from New Jersey to Durham, including building a highly functional IT organizational structure and recruiting qualified technical staff. Hem brings a well-rounded approach to business decision making, resulting from his diverse consulting experience in various industries, such as financial, government, travel, pharmaceutical and utilities. He has a proven track record of providing leadership on multi-million dollar domestic and international projects for major corporations and also providing personal leadership for successful teams and individuals.
Hem’s vision has contributed to vast improvements within the IT Team. Under his leadership, IT-related processes have been significantly streamlined and upgraded, leading to enhanced customer satisfaction and the reduction of operating expenses. Most recently, Hem has worked to achieve the integration of the IT Operations Team and the Software Delivery Team into one single streamlined resource group, responsible for providing the Institute with leading edge technology solutions.
Hem holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business to complement his extensive educational and professional background in technology.
