Institute’s Family-Friendly Programs Recognized among the Nation’s Best

    Published January 28, 2011

No matter which office location you work in, family comes first at the AICPA! The AICPA honors all families, and we have the awards to prove it. Our family-friendly practices - in all of our locations - have garnered us both local and national recognition. Not only were we recently named as one of the most family-friendly organizations, we also have been recognized with the Dave Thomas Foundation’s 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces.

One of the Most Adoption-Friendly Organizations in the Country

The AICPA was recently named the third most adoption friendly, non-profit in the country by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (out of nearly 500 employers). The 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List is a national award given out each year by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, created by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted as a child. The organization is dedicated to dramatically increasing the adoptions of children waiting in North America’s foster care system. To be eligible for the award, employers complete an adoption benefits survey and are evaluated based on financial assistance and paid leave offered to employees.

We Are One of NC’s Family-Friendliest Companies

The AICPA has also have been named as one of Carolina Parenting’s Family-Friendly Companies in 2010. Although this is a North Carolina-based award, the AICPA was identified as a recipient for the policies, practices and benefits that exist for all of Team AICPA. Each year, Carolina Parenting recognizes 50 companies that are committed to helping employees balance work and family life. Companies were selected by the University of NC’s Kenan Flagler School of Business and the winners were featured in the September issue of Carolina Parent, Charlotte Parent, and Piedmont Parent.

"It's impressive to see so many companies demonstrating true leadership in this economy by placing high priority on their employees' well-being," said Mark Ethridge, President of Carolina Inc. "These companies understand the value of creating policies and practices that support work/life balance. They understand the value of ensuring their employees have the opportunity to be both outstanding workers and devoted parents."

The AICPA is proud of these honors, reflecting our organization-wide family-friendly practices.
